Webmaster's note: This page, along with all the others on this site, are under construction.  Please visit often as it will grow.  If you have any information or know of any sites that should be linked from this page, please, send me an and put "OH Military" in the subject line.

Ohio has been the home of veterans since the first settlement on the north shore of the Ohio River.  Marietta, Ohio's first city, was founded by veterans of the American Revolution.  Ohio was the location of strategic forts and battles during both the American Revolution and the War of 1812.  When the Civil War divided our nation Ohio gave more than her fair share to the effort to reunite our land.  At no time in her history have Ohio's sons and daughters failed to answer the call to arms.

Ohio was the home or birth place of eight U. S. Presidents, more than any other state. Of those eight men, one was a veteran of the War of 1812 and five were veterans the Civil War.  One of the five, Ulysses S. Grant, also served in the War with Mexico.

This page is dedicated to all who answer the call of their country in any capacity, but especially to those who have served, and are serving, in the military in order to maintain and protect our freedoms.

Do you have something to share for this page?

A photo out of Ohio's military past?
A family story involving an Ohio veteran?
Pension records, land warranties, etc.?

I would be very happy to hear from you.
