Kempton Cemetery
Columbus, Clinton Township,
Franklin County, Ohio
Gravestone Photographs
Kempton Cemetery, located about a half mile north of Henderson Road on Olentangy River Road, is is poor condition with many broken and unreadable stones. The signs say that it was established in 1819, but there was, at one time, a stone that dated from 1816. Some attempt has been made to care for it recently, but it would seem that the most recent real care was given by an Eagle Scout in 1980. We photographed the broken stones and footstones in an attmpt to portray more acurately the number of burials that took place in the abandoned and neglected example of an early Franklin County cemetery. Obviously, many of the broken and illegible stones should be matched with the names of those for whom no stones were found.
This time I've done things a bit differently and combined the names with photographs and the list of burials gleaned from earlier readings. The last reading was done in 1982 by the Franklin County Genealogical Society.
