Scott Hawley tells us that he is not in any way related to this child. The photograph was found in the collection of Scott's Great-Grand Aunt, Grace Hafford Ankrom, who identified the baby as the son of her parents' neighbor while the Hafford family lived on Delaware Avenue in Columbus. Scott goes on to say, "Actually, if a descendent of any of these folks notices these pictures and wants them, they can contact me. I would just want to see if they how they are related for proof."
A little online research garnered the following information about little Russell Anderson. Russell was born May 18, 1890 and died October 18, 1893. He was the son of a carpenter, James Anderson and his wife, Martha Ellen Woodward Anderson. The family lived at 999 Delaware Avenue. The father, James Anderson, was born in Maryland, August 21, 1849 and died in Columbus on July 27 [or 17?] 1900. By the time of James Anderson's death the family had moved to 262 18th Street (1900 Federal Census). According to the information contained in the 1900 census James and Martha had been married sixteen years and Martha had had three children, two still living. Those two were James W., born about August 1884 in West Virginia, and William W., born March 20, 1885 at Keyser, West Virginia. Martha Ellen Woodward was born at Terra Alta, Maryland on December 25, 1860, the daughter of C. A. and Margaret Woodward. Martha E. Woodward Anderson married a second time to John Ronkey, of whom nothing was located.
Four members of the Anderson family are buried at Green Lawn Cemetery, section 50, lot 196-N. They are baby Russell Anderson, James Anderson, Martha Ellen (Woodward) Anderson Ronkey, and William W. Anderson. William died August 14, 1938 at the VAF hospital in Jefferson Township, Montgomery County, Ohio leaving a widow, Chole Anderson. William was listed as a Marine Engineer.
