Scioto Cemetery
(aka Strader Graveyard)
Jackson Township,
Franklin County, Ohio
Gravestone Photographs
The old Scioto Cemetery (also known as Strader Graveyard) is located in Jackson Township south of Hiner Road and west of Route 104. The names found most are Borror and Strader, but many other early pioneers of the township are buried here. The cemetery is kept mowed by the township trustees and it is posted to keep people out at night. Sadly, however, each trip we made to the cemetery revealed more vandalism and broken stones. On November 14, 2002 the cemetery was littered with beer bottles, some half full and placed as if waiting to be finished. On our last trip, made March 23, 2003, we found new evidence of recent partying in the cemetery.
Some of the information appearing on this page was taken from, Franklin County, Ohio Cemeteries; Jackson & Pleasant Townships, volume 10 of an 11 volume set compiled by the Franklin County Genealogical Society (Columbus, 1988), pages 83-87.
March 2006: Vandals literally destroyed the cemetery toppling the tombstones; none were spared. Estimates of up $100,000 in damage was done.
