On anyone's list in need of tender loving care Smith Cemetery would be high on that list. Located near the end of Pine Lane in Leesburg Township the cemetery has not been cared for in years. When members of the Union County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society walked the cemetery to take a reading of the stones on October 18, 1984 they found many more stones than were visible on November 8, 2009 when this complete photographic inventory was made. Additional stones can probably be located if the weeds and underbrush are cleared away. It has been reported that sometime before 1984 the cemetery was bulldozed to remove trees, taking out gravestones with the trees. Restoration of this cemetery would be a wonderful project for some industrious young men working on their requirements to become Eagle Scouts. To reach this cemetery from Marysville take Ohio State Route 4 north to Hillview Road, turn right; the first road to the left is Pine Lane (no outlet); the cemetery is on the right (east) almost at the end of the road.
