New California Cemetery is located just west of the intersection of U. S. Route 42 and Industrial Parkway (Old Route 33). It is adjacent to and west of the New California United Presbyterian Church. The cemetery is quite old and contains the remains of many area pioneers. There are several veterans buried in this cemetery, including at least one veteran of the War of 1812 and one veteran of the Mexican War (AKA Mexican-American War).
We completed a photographic inventory of this cemetery on August 21, 2009. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the cemetery had been completely restored and all the gravestones cleaned sometime during the summer. Since the only evidence of dirt on the stones came from the splash of rain drops on the ground surrounding some of the stones it seemed evident that the restoration and cleaning had been very recent. If you would like to have your name and E-mail address (encoded so that it can't be "harvested" by spam robots) added with any photo so that others can contact you--just let know.
NOTE: Some of the stones were too weathered to be legible. In some instances the information is underlined in black indicating that it is the Webmaster's "best guess." Most information found inside brackets ([ ]) was found in: Union County Chapter OGS, compliers, Darby & Jerome Townships Cemetery Records (Marysville, OH 1982)
