Gravestone Photographs

This is a complete photographic inventory of all gravestones found at Tanner Cemetery. This Cemetery is located just east of US 62 (OH 3) and north of Scioto-Darby Creek Road in Darby Township. It is about halfway between Era (Pickaway County) and Mt. Sterling (Madison County). Many of the area pioneers are buried in this small abandoned cemetery. It is fenced and well tended; the area immediately surrounding each grave stone has been sprayed with herbicide to keep the weeds away from the stones. All photographs were taken by David and Leona Gustafson on June 18, 2006. Please contact () if you have any questions regarding these photographs.

Notes of interest:  For a list of the burials in this cemetery and a map showing it's location go to Pickaway County American Local History Network (ALHN) and click on the "cemetery" link. Some of the gravestones were very difficult to read and when in doubt I used the above page as a reference. Any information enclosed in brackets [ ] is either the webmaster's "best guess," or it was found on the list. A few of the photos represent graves that are not included on the list and are preceded by a red asterisk (*). Many of the stones are broken and/or illegible; some have have high resolution detail versions and may take a little while to download especially for those with dial up modems. For that reason any photos larger than 99KB will be noted. One last note--most photos of stones that appear in the "Unknown" list are too weather worn or broken to be able to identify them with certainty, but where there is enough information visible they are shown with probable or possible names, dates, and ages.
