Private James Jackson, Co. A, 75th OVI

Private James Jackson, son of William Henry Jackson and Mary Ann White, born in Ireland, he "fell in the battle at Gettysburg, 1 July [1863]."  The 75th Ohio Volunteer Infantry was organized in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, but at this time it is not known if Private Jackson actually resided in the county when he enlisted.  James was apparently highly regarded by his comrades in arms as can be seen by the message of sympathy sent to his family and friends.
