Copeland/Curtiss Cemetery is truly the final resting place of many Delaware County pioneers. Among the earliest gravestones at the cemetery is that of Jeremiah Curtis who died 21 June 1813. Just three months later Charles Curtis died 6 September 1813. There is at least one Revolutionary War veteran buried at this cemetery (see below) and a few veterans of the War of 1812. The WPA map of the cemetery (ca. 1930s) shows that eight veterans as buried in this cemetery.
According to Marilyn Cryder, Guide to the Cemeteries of Delaware County, Ohio (1987), the Genoa Township Trustees are responsible for maintaining Copeland. They have maintained records for the cemetery since 1962. It is located
on abandoned Sunbury Road, 1 ½ miles south of Galena, OH - .1 mile east of County Rd 30 (Sunbury Rd), 220 feet south of County Rd 30. It is called Yankee St Cemetery by the City of Columbus. The WPA map of the cemetery indicates the size as .58 acre.
