NOTE:  This site is not affiliated with Wesley Chapel Cemetery in any way.

Wesley Chapel Cemetery is located at 3225 Dublin Road, Hilliard, OH 43026 (Phone: 614-876-2236). The earliest stone is from 1835 and it is still an active cemetery.  The cemetery was originally the church graveyard and the oldest section is located directly behind the present church building which is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The cornerstone of the building states that it was originally built in 1839, rebuilt in 1854, and rebuilt again in 1891.  According to William Martin in his 1858 History of Franklin County, "The Methodists have a church building called 'Wesley Chapel,' near the residence of David Smiley, Esq., and some two or three other preaching places in school houses."  There are several members of the Smiley family buried at the cemetery, including at least three Davids.  There is a small mausoleum with lovely stained glass windows, located near what used to be the center of the cemetery.

There are two plaques inlaid into the gate posts at the cemetery entrance.  Unfortunately, I don't know when they were constructed.  Name  Trustees
